So, I'm browsing around Conceptships (conceptships.blogspot.com/), and I run across these two things:

I'll be doggone if those aren't my League Destroyer (fav.me/d1e3ygy) and The Alexandria (fav.me/d19qic6).
I suppose I could be mistaken - but if they are...hot dang! The texture work just makes them come alive.
Nice work, Mr. Oleastri!

A Funding Pitch
Hi All.
I feel a bit self-conscious posting this here, because I've let this account "slip" a bit. I'm not nearly as active on DA as I used to be, mostly because other things have chewed up a lot of time.
Even so, I do have this latent desire to carve out some more "visual art" space in my life.

I Guess The Layout Might Qualify As Art
Not too long ago, I went live with my new website.
The site is a place where I can write and post my own articles about sound and music in small venues. I built my own WordPress theme by hammering at "2012" for several days.
Oh!
And I also made my own scrolling banner in JavaScript from scratch. No jQuery. (Not that jQuery is bad, I just wanted to see if I could do it myself.)

...And Now, For Something Completely Different
Maybe one journal post per year is about right for me?
Anyway.
I thought I'd let you folks know that a friend of mine and I have embarked on a "deep" game review project.
Our first effort was in regards to "The Witcher 2." Both the shortened and full-length commentaries are here: http://vimeo.com/thefirst10

I've intimated this in quiet ways over the last while, but I might as well go on record as saying that I think the current trend of painting uv-mapped wear and tear onto everything is an enormous waste of time. I've tried various methods of making the process more automatic, but it's all pretty crude.
On a whim, I decided to visit the site for Modo, and lo and behold, these folks now have what they call an occlusion layer. http://www.luxology.com/modo/tour/renderingpart2.aspx
Yes, yes, I know that we've all had ambient occlusion for ages, and I also know that it's possible for different programs to bake an AO solution to a texture. What's c
