The Eye Of Knowledge

"The Eye Of Knowledge" is an artifact 282 meters high, residing in Odu:: Emberek space, near their border with the Umbra:: Phasmastis. The name for this artifact stems from the pulsating core at its center, which radiates an enormous amount of EM energy. The pulsations are clearly meant to represent binary code that has been run through encryption, as there is a repeating "header" that occurs every 43 hours. This "header" is not encrypted strongly, and can be easily decoded to be Pi to the first hundred digits. The rest of the "message" also repeats, but the encryption is very strong. The Odu:: Emberek calculate that it will take approximately 200 years of computing to break the encryption.

The Odu fiercely guard the artifact, and many outright battles have occurred in its vicinity. Hoshi craft are welcome to approach at any time, while Vascello craft must be carefully escorted. Any Umbran vessel approaching within 10 light years will be interdicted swiftly, and an Umbran captain attempting to "jump in" any further will be shot to pieces at the first opportunity.
