A Pro Advice ...
Only Use Retopology if you plan to Sell ( Professionally / For game engines / at Assets Stores like Cgtrader.com or assetstore.unity3d.com or unrealengine.com stores | WIch are actually places we are heading to try to get some profits ... ) ...
But if you are just doing 3d models Just for Doing or for Graphic Novels ...
Just Forget about Retopology, it Wastes Your Time and Energy ...
And if you DOnt Want to Forget it ... And Waste your energy on that ...
In case you need to make millions objects populations ...
Just Export from 3D Coat to Obj, and you got a "decimate" Option, tipe the AMount of polys You need ! And thats it ! ...
Otherwise if you are still not happy with the results as your models are all "Hard surfaces" ...
Export from 3D Coat the high poly And Import in Zbrush r7 ...
And there you have Many Options with Decimation Master ( that allows you to realtime preview Decimations ) Or even Autoretopo With Rules with Zremesher www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xiCSw…;
Dont Kill your Energies and Time with things That Programs "Should do" proceduraly ...
If One Program doesnt have all the features you need !
