The Breakage OBJ by dmaland
The Breakage OBJ
A volumetric fractal from Incendia. If you put the camera close to it, a shadow map (as opposed to raytraced shadows) may help to reduce the "very definitely polygonal" shadow artifacts that can otherwise occur.

Building Sets For Mission Backup Earth (Part 2) by dmaland
Building Sets For Mission Backup Earth (Part 2)
In this edition, I move into the build phase of my current virtual set...which surprisingly involves very little building and quite a bit of laying things out in 2D.

Hi All.

I feel a bit self-conscious posting this here, because I've let this account "slip" a bit. I'm not nearly as active on DA as I used to be, mostly because other things have chewed up a lot of time.

Even so, I do have this latent desire to carve out some more "visual art" space in my life.

Anyway.

When it all comes down to it, whenever I've done something that I felt was worthwhile, what it all came down to was helping other people create their own art. The whole "commercial success" thing - prints, commissions, etc - has never gone my way. So, instead of pursuing that route some more, I figured I'd take a stab at the "patronage" model. It's only fair to say that I've lumped everything that I do into one campaign, so supporting me means supporting material that's about the musical arts as well as the visual ones. Maybe the tolerating of that is a lot to ask for, or maybe it isn't.

I don't know.

In any case, if you have any interest in supporting my quest to "make it economically viable to create free resources for people," then my campaign is here: www.patreon.com/danielmaland
