MBE Crawltunnel OBJ by dmaland
MBE Crawltunnel OBJ
Also from Mission Backup Earth Episode 04, this is the tunnel/ vent/ thing that the kids escape into. It should be very simple to use, as there are no texture maps. We needed something fast, and there didn't seem to be a point in painting lots of detail onto things.

MBE Ship Corridor OBJ by dmaland
MBE Ship Corridor OBJ
Mission Backup Earth Episode 4 has been released: youtu.be/wxLo-fkdyus

...and, since the episode is now out there, I can release some models I built for the show. This model is a corridor section with "endcaps." You can duplicate the section to get a hallway that's as long as you require, and then move the endcaps into the proper position. Getting the model all set up will require some doing, because there are lots of materials and meshes, but I think it might just be worth it for the right folks.

Nine Mystical Glyph Thingies by dmaland
Nine Mystical Glyph Thingies
In "Final Fantasy" (and other games), casting magic causes a nifty-looking glyph to appear. These are inspired by that idea. They're all PNG files with transparency, so using them for different purposes should be fairly easy. These could become Photoshop brushes, sculpting stamps, material distribution maps, or really whatever else you can think of.

Escort OBJ by dmaland
Escort OBJ
This is another model that I originally built for sale. It received zero attention...but now, I've reworked it and released it for everyone to enjoy for free. :)

I think it's a lot better than it used to be.

Please be aware that the model is somewhat resource intensive. The geometry comprises about 1.5 million triangles, and the maps require (I think) 96 MB of VRAM.

Eridani 7 OBJ by dmaland
Eridani 7 OBJ
Years ago, I built this model to sell on The 3DStudio. It never even sold a single copy. :(

...but now, I'm supported on Patreon, so I yanked the model off the old site, made it much better than it ever was before, and I'm now giving it away for free. :)

The model is pretty heavy, as are the texture maps, and it does take a bit of doing to get the model into a rendering program. I particularly recommend using "brightness & contrast" adjusted versions of the color maps to drive specularity/ glossiness, if that's possible for you.

Hi All.

I feel a bit self-conscious posting this here, because I've let this account "slip" a bit. I'm not nearly as active on DA as I used to be, mostly because other things have chewed up a lot of time.

Even so, I do have this latent desire to carve out some more "visual art" space in my life.

Anyway.

When it all comes down to it, whenever I've done something that I felt was worthwhile, what it all came down to was helping other people create their own art. The whole "commercial success" thing - prints, commissions, etc - has never gone my way. So, instead of pursuing that route some more, I figured I'd take a stab at the "patronage" model. It's only fair to say that I've lumped everything that I do into one campaign, so supporting me means supporting material that's about the musical arts as well as the visual ones. Maybe the tolerating of that is a lot to ask for, or maybe it isn't.

I don't know.

In any case, if you have any interest in supporting my quest to "make it economically viable to create free resources for people," then my campaign is here: www.patreon.com/danielmaland
